According to the company, the GemStar SP infusion system is designed to help caregivers incorporate patient safety best practices right at the patient’s bedside.
The company said that GemStar SP incorporates GemStar Infusion Suite software, a stand-alone PC-based application designed to enhance safe medication administration.
GemStar also offers security features including four keypad lockouts, integral set-based free flow protection and mandatory confirmation screens, to help minimize the risk of medication delivery errors, added Hospira.
Steven Pregulman, global medical director of device development at Hospira, said: “The new GemStar Infusion Suite software allows clinicians to recall a pre-configured drug safety suite for safer, and drug delivery.
