New UK biotechnology facility opened

The publication reported that those behind the pioneering facility are claiming that it will revolutionize the way that chemicals used in commonplace products are manufactured. The bdaily website reported that the facility will help companies to adopt more efficient production technologies and methods.

One of the primary focuses of the facility will be allowing companies to establish the commercial viability of their products and bdaily.com said that this application has already appealed to drug manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline, which is now working on a development scheme with the Centre for Process Innovation.

In addition, the Centre for Process Innovation will also look at developing new biomass and biorefining technologies, which will become central to the implementation of more environmentally friendly power production in the future.

According to the Financial Times, the facility will initially collaborate with 17 global companies on the development of biotechnology products.
