Smiths Medical wins multi year contract from HealthTrust

Smiths Medical, part of Smiths Group's global technology business, has received a multi year contract from HealthTrust Purchasing Group.

Under the terms of the agreement, Smiths Medical will provide its Medfusion Syringe Infusion System and CADD Ambulatory Infusion Systems to HealthTrust’s over 1,400 acute care hospitals and 3,000 alternate care members in the US.

The Medfusion 3500 Syringe Pump with PharmGuard Medication Safety Software is said to provide hospital clinicians with the ability to customize it to their institution’s practices. Its innovations in syringe recognition, drug libraries, and programmable safety limits are designed to improve safety for clinicians and their patients.

According to the company, the small, lightweight CADD-Prizm PCS II Ambulatory Infusion System allows hospitals to standardize on one pain management system, enhancing clinician familiarity, patient safety, and hospital efficiency. Its medication safety software allows clinicians to configure the system with standard hospital protocols to minimize pump programming errors and time.
