Sales up 11.6% at Lloydspharmacy

Sales increased 11.6% to GBP1.5 billion, driven by the expansion of healthcare services and an increased demand for medical electrical products.

Lloydspharmacy increased its services for Primary Care Trusts by 67% during the year. The pharmacy chain conducted over a million free diabetes screening tests and more than 400,000 free blood pressure screening tests during 2006. Prescription processing also increased 12% to 122 million.

Lloydspharmacy opened 29 new pharmacies during 2006, and 92% of the 1,556 outlet pharmacy stores now have consultation areas.

Chief executive Justin Ash said: “We made significant progress during 2006 by focusing relentlessly on health and continue to make our organization more efficient and responsive to individuals’ changing health needs.”
