AIM Publishes DotCode

DotCode, a rectangular matrix symbology, was published by AIM, the international association focusing on bar codes, RFID and enterprise mobile computing.

Reportedly, the DotCode is suitable for machine-readable coding and is compatible with existing market high-speed industrial printing equipment.

Dan Mullen, president of AIM, said: “DotCode is an exciting development in the bar code world as it provides a practical method for encoding machine-readable data at true production line speeds. AIM is thrilled to bring this new capability to manufacturers around the world.”

According to company, that the DotCode has undergone review process in AIM’s Technical Symbology Committee (TSC), according to AIM symbology specifications, to ensure that it is robust from both a printing and reading perspective.

The DotCode is capable of encoding full ASCII, extended ASCII, and pure binary sequences, accorging to AIM. It also has a numeric compaction mode. Additionally, through the optional use of Extended Channel Interpretation (ECI) codes, it can encode any ISO Code Page, providing support for any alphabet, reported pmpnews.

It also includes structured append of up to 36 symbols, inherent reverse video reading, and other special features.
