Biogaia in its interim report has reported an increase in net sales by 65% or SEK 23.8m to SEK 60.2m for the second quarter ended June 30,2009, compared to 36.4m for the second quarter of 2008.
The company has reported an increase in operating profit by SEK 11.6m to SEK 16.6m for the second quarter of 2009, compared to SEK 5m for the same period last year.
The company has reported an increase in profit before tax by SEK 10.6m to SEK 16.2m for the second quarter ended June 30,2009, compared to 5.6m for the same period prior year.
For the six months ended June 30, 2009, the company has reported an increase in net sales by 55% or SEK 40m to SEK 112.4m, compared to SEK 72.4m for the same period prior year.
The company has reported an increase in operating profit by SEK 17.3m to SEK 29.9m for the first half of 2009, compared to SEK 12.6m for the same prior in 2008.
The company has reported an increase in profit before tax by SEK 17.7m to SEK 31.3m for the first half of 2009, compared to SEK 13.6m for the first half of 2008.
The company has reported a earnings per share of SEK 1.26 for the six months ended June 30, 2009, a decrease compared to SEK 1.29.
Peter Rothschild, managing director of Biogaia, said: “We are seeing excellent results from our efforts, with year-on-year sales growth of 55% for the first six months. Even if one takes into account earlier than schedule deliveries for SEK 5.4 million and positive exchange rate effects, sales are increasing very satisfactorily. Furthermore I am very happy that we have succeeded in maintaining our gross margins and above all in containing our fixed costs.”
