Amerigroup Nevada will bring healthcare services to about 50,000 low-income Nevada residents who participate in the Medicaid and Nevada Check Up program, which serves Clark and Washoe Counties.
As part of its contract with Amerigroup Nevada, the state has agreed to a rate schedule that reflects recent healthcare utilization experience in these programs. The company has said that Nevada will become the 12th state in which Amerigroup operates publicly funded healthcare programs.
The state’s contract with Amerigroup Nevada, which is subject to approval by the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, continues through at least June 30, 2011. Amerigroup Nevada will initially serve about half the total number of people enrolled in the program.
James Carlson, Amerigroup’s chairman and CEO, said: “Amerigroup and the state share two goals – helping financially vulnerable Nevadans live healthier lives and serving Nevada taxpayers in a manner that is fiscally responsible. We believe that, together, we have laid the foundation for a successful partnership.”
