The latest partnership is a sales and distribution arrangement, which would allow Cipla Medpro to exclusively promote Teva’s broad pharmaceutical product portfolio in South Africa.
Cipla Medpro chief executive officer Paul Miller said: "This collaboration is highly complementary and aligns strongly with our philosophy of providing South Africans with access to a broader range of affordable medicines."
The collaboration will be mainly targeted at therapeutic areas including oncology, central nervous system, women’s health, cardiovascular, ophthalmology and other specialty products.
Cipla global chief executive officer Subhanu Saxena said: "Cipla believes that the collaboration with Teva reaffirms its commitment to advancing healthcare for all South Africans."
The partnership is subject to approval by the Competition Commission of South Africa.
