Word Health Organisation has authorised DCGI to issue Pharmaceutical Product (Copp) and good manufacturing practice (GMP) certificates, starting October 1, reported TopNews.
The step is expected to streamline the regulatory process for pharmaceutical overseas sales, but will delay the process. It will discourage multiple certification in one country.
To maintain uniformity in issuing certification, DCGI has restricted state drug regulators to issue WHO compliance certificate.
P V Appaji, executive director of Pharmexcil, said to TopNews: “This is a welcome step by the DCGI. It will help in the international market since it maintains uniformity and transparency.”
