Dow Basic Plastics Licensing and Catalyst (Dow) has increased the capacity at its SHAC Catalyst plant in Norco by 20%. The SHAC Catalysts are used in the production of polypropylene, and are the preferred catalyst technology for facilities that license UNIPOL Polypropylene Process Technology.
Cherie Holliman Wrenn, Product Marketing Manager for Polypropylene Catalyst Systems, said: “We are expanding in response to increased market demand for our catalyst systems – including both SHAC Catalyst and our new family of Advanced Donor Technology (ADT). Our growth is being driven by the success of our newly introduced family of ADT donors, in addition to the anticipated demand of five new licensees that will start up in China over the next three years.”
Advantaged SHAC Catalyst Systems combine catalyst and ADT together to deliver high selectivity and high activity. It enables the production of a range of competitive polypropylene products and grades, to suit a full range of market needs. In addition, the Systems improve margins for PP producers by allowing higher throughput and greater production efficiency, said the company.
