Elder Pharmaceuticals Opens New Manufacturing Facility In Dehradun, India

The company will move all syrup-based product manufacturing to this facility. The facility marks Elder’s entry into injectables manufacturing, especially anti-infective products like cephalosporins.

The new plant involved an investment of INR1,500m, and is spread across ten acres. The facility will have production lines for liquid orals, sterile injectables, Cephalosporin block for tablets, as well as dry power injectables. It will manufacture Shelcal syrup, Eldervit syrup, Enzar liquid, Mucodyne syrup, Eldervit Inj, and anti-infective tablets, mainly of Cephalosporin like formic-O.

The facility has a rain harvesting system and zero discharge concept. It is also equipped with fully-automated lines meeting GMP standards, Air HVAC & water system, pneumatic transfer systems, automatic inspections for ampoules, said the company.

Alok Saxena, director of Elder Pharmaceuticals, said: “We expect the new facility to add 15% to our revenues. Injectables offer a good opportunity both for the cosmetic as well as export markets. We also expect significant cost advantages by centralizing production at this facility.”
