EPA announces public meeting on proposed HPV regulation

EPA announced in the Federal Register on March 16 that it will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, March 31 on a test rule proposed under TSCA Section 4 (a)(1)(b). This particular section of TSCA uses an exposure trigger as a basis for issuance of a test rule considering substantial production volumes and substantial exposures. 19 High Production Volume (HPV) chemicals were listed in the proposed test rule. The proposed rule was posted by EPA in the Federal Register on July 24, 2008 (73 FR 43314).

The meeting will provide an opportunity for the public to comment on the Agency’s proposal. The meeting will be held Tuesday, March 31, 8:00am – 12:00pm at EPA, 1201 Constitution Ave. N.W., Washington, DC, Hearing room 1153.

EPA received two requests to provide oral comments from the Chlorinated Paraffins Industry Association (CPIA) and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) on behalf of themselves, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), the Alternatives Research Development Foundation and the America Anti-Vivisection Society.
