European Sexual Confidence Survey Releases Findings On ED

According to the findings of European Sexual Confidence Survey, 87% of adults believe that good sex is linked to a man’s ability to achieve and sustain a firm or hard erection. Furthermore, more than half of men would like to improve their sex lives by experiencing firmer or harder erections. Reportedly, the survey, conducted by Pfizer, evaluated the attitudes of 8,576 men and women towards erection hardness and sexual confidence, and their impact on quality of life.

The findings also showed that while 70% of men in Europe between the ages of 25 and 64 are experiencing erections which are completely hard and fully rigid, this drops to just one in two men between the ages of 55 and 64. Furthermore, 16% of men between the ages of 55 and 64 are actually unable to achieve penetration as a result of insufficiently hard erections.

Further, 79% of those surveyed believe that being able to satisfy his partner sexually is imperative to a man’s sexual confidence, 33% agree that erection hardness is also one of the most important factors. Nine out of 10 respondents agree that a lack of sexual confidence, as a result of insufficiently hard erections, can also have a negative effect on the non-sexual aspects of a man’s life. This can affect his overall confidence and self-esteem and make him feel less confident about his life in general.

Francois Giuliano, MD, Urologist at RaymondPoincareHospital, Garches, and ParisWestMedicalUniversity, said: “We already know that by treating ED to help men achieve the hardest possible erection, they can feel more satisfied with their sex lives. As this survey shows, when men achieve optimal erection hardness, they can be more sexually confident, thereby improving their ability to please their partner, their self-esteem and general well-being. As healthcare professionals, we should aim to optimise treatment in our ED patients so that more men ‘Score 4’ on the Erection Hardness Scale and have their sexual confidence restored, enabling them to experience the important benefits sexual confidence can bring them, their partners, their relationships and their lives overall.”
