Jeffrey R. Luber and Charles R. Carelli Jr., present president and chief executive, and chief financial officer of the company, respectively, have agreed to resign their present positions on April 2, 2009, and remain with the company through a transition period.
Both Conroy and Arora bring significant experience with molecular diagnostics and managing complex clinical trials to their new roles at EXACT Sciences. Most recently, they served as president and chief executive, and chief financial officer, respectively, of Third Wave Technologies Inc.
In December 2005, Conroy was appointed as president and chief executive of Third Wave Technologies, and served in that position until the company’s acquisition by Hologic in July 2008. He joined Third Wave in July 2004 and served as the company’s general counsel until December 2005. Before joining Third Wave Technologies, Conroy served as intellectual property counsel at GE Healthcare. Prior to GE Healthcare, Conroy was chief operating officer of two early-stage, venture-backed technology companies in Northern California. Prior to those positions, he was an intellectual property litigator at two Chicago law firms, McDermott Will & Emery, and Pattishall, McAuliffe, Newbury, Hilliard and Geraldson, where he was a partner.
Conroy holds a bachelor’s of science degree in electrical engineering at Michigan State University and a law degree from the University of Michigan.
In January 2006, Arora was appointed chief financial officer of Third Wave in January 2006. He joined the company in January 2003 as director of strategy and was promoted successively to vice president and senior vice president in 2004. Before joining Third Wave Technologies, Arora served as director of corporate strategy for Nalco Chemical Company. He started his career at Kraft Foods as a financial analyst and held several positions of increasing responsibility during his nine years there.
Arora holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Chicago and a master of business administration degree from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
