According to the report, the Chinese health authorities investigated 33 products, including baby shampoo, made by Johnson & Johnson (J&J) after a US consumer group alleged that the products contained carcinogens.
The J&J group, however, refuted the charges and claimed that the trace levels of the compounds in question arise from processes that make the products gentle for babies and safe from bacteria growth.
The Chinese State Food and Drug Administration has assured that it will continue to monitor the situation and carry out timely tests, reported Reuters.
It is also reported that Nonggongshang Supermarket Group, a supermarket chain, has ordered the removal of J&J baby bath products from its 3,500 outlets.
