Finesse introduces SmartParts for intelligent universal controllers

SmartParts act as the building blocks for the company’s next generation of bioreactor controller systems that have plug-and-play capability and can control any size or type of upstream vessel, decreasing complexity and efficiency as well as increasing flexibility for the end user.

SmartParts, which are designed for R&D scale-up and cGMP feature built-in diagnostics, programmable functionality and more accurate control with less loading control system that optimizes the function of individual component.

SmartParts consists of the TruSens, TruFluor pH/DO blades, TruTorr Transmitter, SmartScale Transmitter, SmartPumps in three different sizes, SmartMFC’s, and the SmartMotor.

When the components are plugged into a Finesse control system, they are automatically recognized with many settings configured automatically.

The concept is more or less built on the principle of distributed intelligence and allows a high scalable and automated control scheme.

Finesse R&D VP and co-founder Dr. Mark Selker said, "We fully expect that our G3 bioreactor controllers utilizing SmartParts will not only achieve better and more repeatable product yield, but will also enhance the end user experience."
