He will also assist in the selection of new product candidates and licensing opportunities for Fujirebio Diagnostics products. He has held various positions at Abbott and Meridian Bioscience, most recently as vice president of research & development at Meridian Bioscience.
“Dr. Barnes’ extensive experience in diagnostics will be vital to sustaining Fujirebio Diagnostics’ growth,” says Paul Touhey, president and chief executive officer of Fujirebio Diagnostics. “His expertise will support the growth and acceptance of biomarker assays in ovarian cancer, such as HE4, and help Fujirebio Diagnostics identify additional promising biomarkers in oncology.”
Barnes received a Bachelor of Arts degree in natural sciences from Johns Hopkins University, and his Ph.D. in biochemistry from Florida State University. He has directed the commercialization of over 50 products, including diagnostic assay kits, hardware and software.
