The renewed arrangement will see Cognizant combine its life sciences sector knowledge with technical services to aid Gilead’s ongoing development and operational processes.
The joint work is intended to focus on targeted, practical use cases designed to simplify operational procedures, streamline technical delivery, and enable Gilead’s project teams to implement priority technology programmes more efficiently.
Gilead Global CIO Anna Berg Asberg said: “Our focus is on giving our teams reliable, efficient technology that helps them move important work forward.
“This agreement provides additional support as we strengthen our DevOps capabilities and evaluate practical, responsible uses of AI across our technology environment—all in service of our broader mission to deliver for patients.”
Cognizant Americas president Surya Gummadi said: “We value the opportunity to continue supporting Gilead’s technology priorities. Our work will bring together life sciences experience, DevOps capabilities and AI tools to help Gilead improve delivery across selected programmes.”
This agreement builds on over a decade of collaboration between the two companies.
Over that timeframe, Cognizant has provided ongoing technical support for elements of Gilead’s worldwide information technology infrastructure, software platforms, enterprise applications, and advanced analytics capabilities.
The expanded remit provides additional resources for selected DevOps and AI-driven capabilities, supporting the core technical foundations that underpin Gilead’s business and research priorities.
Last month, Gilead Sciences and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) signed an agreement to expedite access to the company’s twice-yearly lenacapavir injection for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) prevention as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) across Latin America and the Caribbean.
