GlaxoSmithKline plans to build new health drink units in Andhra Pradesh, India

Currently awaiting transparency on tax incentives, the GSK Consumer team has already picked out one location each in Nellore and Chittoor for the new facility, which will produce Horlicks and Boost branded products.

The company is surveying for about 100 acres of land at the two locations, aside from connectivity to the natural gas grid, while has also expressed plans to manufacture Foodles, which is its instant noodles product, biscuits and oats under the Horlicks brand, excluding health food drinks.

GSK spokesperson was quoted by the Economic Times as saying: "GSK is also looking at using a part of the production capacities at the proposed greenfield facility to cater to export markets.

"We do not comment on rumours and market speculation."

GSK already operates a facility at Rajahmundry and other plants at Nabha in Punjab and Sonepat in Haryana.

Confirming the reports of GSK team visits, the AP government bureaucrat said: "A few large MNCs, including Coca-Cola, are also looking at setting up their large facilities but are waiting for clarity over tax incentives through special category status."
