Business Standard quoted Arshad Siddiqui, chief marketing officer of Hamdard Laboratories, saying: “The company will focus on the south markets, particularly Andhra Pradesh. It garnered 9 to 10% of its INR3000m turnover from the southern markets and was hopeful of increasing this to 15% in a year.
“The company is optimistic about increasing its turnover to INR5000m on the back of the increased retail sales and launch of new products by 2011. Its three brands – Rooh Afza, Safi and Nature Wonder– are the main drivers of growth.”
Moreover, the company will establish sales hub in Hyderabad, India, for which it has doubled its sales force. In the long run, Hamdard plans to develop new formats of Unani OTC medication. It also plans to conduct pharmacological trials for the herbal products.
Hamdard will be expanding its market to Southeast Asian countries and will engage plants in Manesar and Okhla in India, to meet the extra demands for these markets.
