InVitria has launched a new cell culture supplement for CHO (Chinese hamster ovaries) cell line enhancement called Zap-CHO at the 9th Protein Expression in Animal Cells (PEACe) Conference in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
The company claims that with the development of Zap-CHO, it has created a performance enhancing CHO media supplement that is the first animal free supplement capable of replacing fetal bovine serum (FBS) without sacrificing performance and maintaining a well defined media.
Zap-CHO provides benefits in CHO cell culture which include faster cell line development and seed train expansion, animal component-free media, consistency of a defined media component, biomanufacturing optimisation and improved production economics and better and more predictable performance in cell culture research and development.
Steve Pettit, director of cell culture development at InVitria, said: “Zap-CHO is a significant breakthrough in mammalian cell culture systems. Since Zap-CHO is a defined and animal component-free product, it is well suited for commercial, chemically-defined and serum- and animal-free cell culture media formulations.”
InVitria develops, manufactures and markets a portfolio of cell culture media components and reagents used in bioprocessing, biopharmaceutical formulation, stem cell & regenerative medicine, life science research, medical devices and diagnostics.
