Life Tech takes over Netherlands-based protein purification products developer

The acquisition will add BAC BV’s proprietary affinity ligands to Life Tech’s bioproduction portfolio of POROS chromatography resins, designed for purification of therapeutic products.

Life Technologies bioproduction head Tony Hunt said by combining BAC’s current portfolio and pipeline with the company’s pre-existing portfolio, it can expand its product offering and enable it to compete better across the protein purification market.

"We intend to immediately integrate the portfolios and leverage the Life commercial platform to drive accelerated growth in this market," Hunt added.

In addition to POROS resins, Life Tech offers Gibco culture media, Applied Biosystems SEQ rapid molecular kits for contaminant and impurity testing of bio-therapeutic products.

The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
