Novartis US plant resumes drug production

The drugs are expected to be supplied early in the next month in a limited quantity, according to Novartis CEO.

The Lincoln plant reportedly has been shut down in December 2011 following FDA’s inspection reports.

Novartis CEO Joseph Jimenez was quoted by Journal Star as saying that the company wants its customers and regulators to know that each person at Novartis takes personal responsibility for quality.

The company has also been producing and shipping animal anti-anxiety drug Clomicalm since June, according to Novartis Animal Health website.

The shutdown has led to a more than $500m decrease in sales of over-the counter drugs for Novartis in the first half of 2012.
