PerkinElmer introduces JANUS BioTx Pro automated workstation

The workstation, JANUS BioTx Pro, accommodates multiple chromatography modes (column, tip and batch), and is used in resin binding studies and conditions screening applications.

Small scale purification of µg to mg proteins on one system is enabled by the workstation, instead of three individual dedicated systems, supporting the use of commercially available plate and column based screening tools like GE PreDictor plates, PhyNexus PhyTip columns and Atoll columns, claims the company.

PerkinElmer life sciences and technology president Kevin Hrusovsky said sample preparation for protein characterization can be time consuming and tedious.

"Automating this function frees up valuable research time and enables scientists to obtain critical information earlier in the protein development pipeline," Hrusovsky added.

"This is particularly important to support quality by design experimentation in both upstream and downstream processes to improve product quality and reduce development time."

The company announced that the launch is taking place at the 12th Annual Protein Science Week (PepTalk) from 21-25 January 2013 in Palm Springs, Florida, US.
