PPG currently manufactures chlor-alkali and derivates products that are used in many end-use markets, such as paper and pharmaceuticals, purifying drinking water and making bleach.
The company intends to take over Equa-Chlor’s manufacturing operations, which produce approximately 220 tons of chlorine per day.
PPG Commodity Chemicals senior vice president said with the acquisition of Equa-Chlor, PPG’s chlor-alkali and derivatives business will gain a strategic foothold in the western US, in addition to improving their ability to supply key customers throughout the country.
