Ranbaxy To Supply Tamiflu In India

Ranbaxy Laboratories, has received orders from the national government to supply the generic version of Roche’s anti-viral Tamiflu, used to treat the H1N1 flu. Ranbaxy will supply 900,000 capsules initially, a spokesman told Reuters on Wednesday.

Ranbaxy is India-based drug manufacturer, and a global generics producer of drugs. Anti-infectives amoxycillin and ciprofloxacin, and cardio drug simvastatin are among Ranbaxy’s top sellers. The company is foccused on gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, and central nervous system disorders, as well as diabetes, pain, allergies, and HIV/AIDS. Ranbaxy is majority owned by Japan’s Daiichi Sankyo.
