Rem Medical acquires PsyPharma Tucson

Renamed Rem Medical Clinical Research, the new clinical research division is working closely with pharmaceutical companies and their contract research organizations to provide Phase II-IV trial services to evaluate drug compounds across a wide range of psychiatric and sleep indicators including insomnia and sleep apnea.

As part of the acquisition, Rem retained an exceptional investigative, clinical and administrative team with a track record of quality trial activity. Derek Loewy has been involved as the principal investigator in over thirty clinical trials since completing his sleep medicine fellowship training at Stanford in 2001. Prior to PsyPharma, Dr Loewy was the director of the insomnia program at the Sleep Clinic of San Francisco.

Russell Benaroya, CEO of Rem Medical, said: We are thrilled to be working with Dr Loewy and his research team. We know that experience and a track record are critical components to building a successful clinical trials organization. Rem brings a solid research foundation that assists our pharmaceutical partners in bringing treatments to market that address the growing needs in the field of sleep medicine.
