Roche has established Roche Pharma Partnering Asia Office in China on November 1, 2009. The New facility will help create network alliances worldwide. Reportedly, the move is a step to tap the collaborative opportunities in pharmaceutical innovations in China.
Franz Humer, chairman of Roche, said: “It is a strategic move by Roche to set up a new office in China, as the country’s sustained economic growth and huge market demand have enhanced Roche’s increased confidence in the Chinese market.”
“China has remarkable market potentials in academic circles as well as emerging bio-tech fields, the new office will focus on seeking out scientific research projects and joint efforts with pharmaceutical companies, hospitals and medically-oriented scientific institutions across the country.”
Roche has also signed co-operation agreements with three Chinese universities. Agreement with Fudan University is to develop drug delivery techniques.
