RTS Life Science (RTS) has upgraded RTS SolidPrep with two new adaptors to support the processing of larger volume, 80ml and 120ml tubes. These larger capacity tubes support existing methods using standard 50ml and 100ml glassware.
Reportedly, a standard solvent volumes requires up to 100ml of solvent and can be processed in the new tubes without having to modify methods. The adaptors are capable of processing 5 x 80ml or 2 x 120ml tubes, and are simple to fit and change between the various adaptors is a ‘tool free’ process.
The company claims that RTS SolidPrep, is the fastest solution for tablet and capsule homogenization and extraction. The instrument is used in pharmaceutical development where tablets are tested in stability and impurity studies or in quality control environments, where assay and content uniformity testing is a requirement of the pharmacopeia.
RTS SolidPrep provides reproducible homogenization without localised heating or increased drug degradation and has been proven to save up to 90% of the time typically taken for sample homogenization. SolidPrep is suitable for both standard and increasingly complex controlled release dosage forms which are creating new challenges for existing sample preparation technology, said the company.
The company also added that to assist with tablet homogenization, all SolidPrep tubes have an easy to seal, leak proof lid. The new tubes are graduated to indicate the approximate solvent volume that has been dispensed. The tube containers and lids are polypropylene and are compatible with common analytical solvents and extraction media.
