Schott Kaisha opens new automated pharma packaging plant in India

The company said the new plant is expected to increase production capacity by 50%, bringing total annual output to about two billion ampoules, vials, syringes, and cartridges.

The new automated production facility, which has met ISO 15378 standards, has 20 production lines for ampoules and 16 for vials.

The new facility uses high-end robotic feeding technology for tube-loading as well as high-precision camera inspection system with SCHOTT Fiolax tubes used as base material, according to the company.

Schott Kaisha managing director Kairus Dadachanji was quoted by pharmabiz as saying that the company sees a steadily rising demand for locally manufactured primary packaging that meets the rising quality demands.

"Our new factory sets new standards in India, and this investment will result in better quality opportunities for our customers," Dadachanji added.

"In other words, we will be helping the Indian pharmaceutical industry to achieve its own growth objectives."
