Source BioScience will provide infrastructure and technology platforms in addition to employing technical staff and expertise to operate the Dublin facility, with further support available from its main laboratory in Nottingham. The new facility enables Source BioScience to expand its service offering directly into Ireland and beyond as well as opening up cross selling opportunities.
Through collaborations and partnerships the facility will further expand Source BioScience’s network of core DNA sequencing facilities embedded in several academic and research institutions. These facilities are based around a central reference laboratory hub in Nottingham with satellite operations in Cambridge University, Oxford University and University College London.
Under an agreement with Trinity College Dublin, Source BioScience will offer DNA sequencing to customers within the University and provide access to other services through the new facility, including access to its next generation DNA sequencing and genotyping platforms in Nottingham.
Dr Nick Ash, managing director of Source BioScience, said: “We are delighted to be able to announce the extension of our DNA sequencing service offering into Dublin, establishing Source BioScience as the first commercial DNA sequencing provider with facilities in Ireland.
“Irish laboratories have an outstanding reputation in life science research and there was a significant opportunity to satisfy the unmet market need for a high quality local service provider. We are happy to take on that role and are already producing high quality data for our customers in Ireland.”
