Soy protein consumption to minimize progression of clogged arteries:Study

The study , which was conducted between 2004 and 2009, evaluated the efficiency of isolated soy protein consumption on the progression of atherosclerosis.

The double-blind, placebo-controlled parallel-design study included 350 women aged 45-92 years with no signs of diabetes or heart disease.

Solae nutrition discovery lead, Elaine Krul, said the study also showed a significant increase in HDL (‘the good’) cholesterol in participants consuming isolated soy protein.

"The results of this study reinforce that soy protein can provide health benefits for the healthy ageing market segment," Krul said.
