Stacked Graphene Platelet Nanofibers are grown via a patented process that decomposes carbon containing gases in the presence of metal catalyst particles, reported Cambridge Network.
Strem’s nanomaterials product offering now includes nanoparticles of many transition metals, precious metals as well as metal oxides, mixed-metal oxides and magnetic fluids. These are provided in a number of different shapes and sizes. Nanocatalysts are also available.
Strem Chemicals’ key products include catalysts, ligands, organometallics, metal carbonyls and nanomaterials. Strem’s products are used for research and development and commercial scale applications, especially in the pharmaceutical, microelectronics, chemicals and petrochemicals industries.
Strem Chemicals also provides custom synthesis, process development and cGMP manufacturing services.
Ephraim Honig, COO of Strem Chemicals, said: “These carbon-based nanofibres offer a host of potential applications and expands our nanomaterials offering for our customers.”
Juzer Jangbarwala, founder and chairman of Catalyx Nanotech, said: “Our nanofibres could be used as a carbon-based catalyst support for fuel cells and other chemical processes, for the separation of volatile organic carbon pollutants from water and in supercapacitors and batteries. We have also recently demonstrated the production of these nanofibres from renewable resources.”
