US Receives H1N1 Vaccines From Novartis

Novartis has begun delivering the first batch of swine flu shots to the US, reported Expatica.

“We have been delivering the first doses to the United States since Sunday. The deliveries will continue in the next weeks,” a spokesman told AFP. It referred to the Fluviron H1N1 vaccine.

The governments in the northern hemisphere have ordered swine flu vaccine as a preparatory measure for second wave of H1N1.

Reportedly the vaccine was approved by European Commission this week, for distribution in Europe. The vaccine will be distributed under the brand name Focetria. The other vaccine, Celltura from Novartis is waiting approval.

The company has received orders of total $979m for the US government. It plans to deliver 100 million vaccines by the end of 2009.
