Antares’ Vibex platform includes Vibex MTX, an auto-injector which is in development and enables rheumatoid arthritis patients to comfortably and safely self-inject methotrexate at home.
Vibex utilizes a proprietary coil-spring power source to deliver the prescribed medication.
The spring is combined with a tiny hidden needle in a disposable, single-use injection system compatible with conventional syringes.
Antares Pharma president and CEO Paul Wotton said the issuance of this patent strengthen the potential commercial value of Vibex MTX, as well as the products they are currently developing in collaboration with Teva Pharmaceuticals.
