In the new facility, space will be dedicated for automatic and manual visual inspection, as well as for stability chambers designed to the standards.
Vetter claims that the new facility will allow the company to optimise both its control and logistical processes, thereby allowing safe product delivery to customers.
Vetter will use mostly renewable energy from photovoltaic cells, biogas and geothermal sources to power the new facility. The phase I construction, scheduled for completion by the end of 2011, is estimated to cost more than EUR30m.
The storefront will be equipped with photovoltaic cells. Vetter said it will harness geothermal energy, a biogas-fired block heat and power plant and excess energy for climate control of storage rooms.
Thomas Otto, managing director of Vetter, said: “Our investment in the center for visual inspection and logistics is an investment in our partnership with customers. The facility is expected to broaden the base for our market supply.”
