National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) adopts ChemAxon JChem Base for Japanese Consortium for Glycobiology and Glycotechnology Database (JCGGDB)

Currently there is an ongoing project, called "Life Science Integrated Database Project" (LSDB), led by the Japanese government, and The National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) has taken the lead in the glycoscience part of this project. AIST have been consolidating glycoscience related databases within the country and building the integrated one. The ChemAxon’s JChem software is to be used to enable the integrated chemical structure search in JCGGDB.

JChem Base is a tool for the development of cheminformatics applications allowing storage and search of structural and non-structural data. JChem Base can handle molecules, reactions, polymers, Markush and query structural contents. JChem Base will integrate a variety of database systems with web interfaces and offer high performance searches including substructure, similarity, exact, and superstructure searches. The system includes Marvin, a family of toolkits and graphic user interfaces for editing, viewing and visualising chemical structures and macromolecules.

"We are honored to work with AIST in this ground breaking project, we expect the full potential of our functionality to bring new possibilities and value to users", said Alex Drijver, CEO of ChemAxon.

"We are very pleased for the JChem technology to be adopted for the portal of glycotechnology", added Fumiaki Aruga, COO of Patcore, ChemAxon’s exclusive commercial agent in Japan.
