Operational Progression at Dec

The pioneering provider of powder handling systems currently has its production spread between their Swiss Headquarters, Poland, and a site in Italy which Dec acquired when it bought the JetPharma product range in 2008. In short, the plan is to integrate the Italian operation with Switzerland and Poland.

"This is the logical conclusion to a process that began with our purchase of JetPharma," explains Dec’s Managing Director, Yves Dietrich, "For a period we kept our powder handling operation separate from micronizing and containment, but it became apparent that various elements, such as procurement, were being duplicated, so we merged them. In the same way, our three sites have several areas of duplication, so it simply makes good business sense to concentrate our activities where possible, whilst ensuring that we retain all the key employees from the Italian operation. As a result our customers will enjoy a more focused and more efficient service."

The 2200m2 Swiss site is enhancing its capabilities with activity comprising product trials, (including micronizing), detail engineering, assembly and factory acceptance tests. The group employs 120 people worldwide, 60 of which are based in Switzerland.
The new 1000m2 Polish unit will be responsible for manufacturing, but will also have detail engineering and assembly capability.

The employee level in Poland will rise by 50% from 20 to 30 by year end. "These are exciting times at Dec," adds Yves Dietrich, "The company continues to perform well and has extended its global reach. As a market leader dedicated to developing innovative solutions, look out for significant new developments in our micronizing and isolation technologies which will be launched at the forth coming ACHEMA."
