Munters innovative rotor design is constantly ongoing and improvements in the structure of the rotor, the absorbents and design allow a remarkably energy efficient dehumidification process.

Customer health and safety is essential to Munters which is clearly reflected in the design of the rotors.

Our rotors are continuously being tested independently and our HPS (High Performance Silicagel) and QuantumTM rotors have most recently been proven by SIK (The Swedish Institute for Food and Biotechnology) to have both bactericidal and fungicidal properties.

Not only the rotor surface but also the bacteria and fungi concentrations in the air streams were tested.

Furthermore the rotors are proven not to emit particles to the processed air and the rotor fibres used have a size not respirable and preclude associated health hazards.

The test concludes Munters HPS and QuantumTM rotors suitability for employment in e.g. food production processes where hygiene demands are extensive.

Munters Quantum™ rotor is a further refinement of HPS rotor and is impregnated with a unique and specially developed desiccant that can stand very high reactivation temperatures. This rotor type is designed for all drying and cooling processes where a high ΔX is required.

The basic principle shows the design of a desiccant rotor for the drying technique. The rotor works on the principle of sorption by which a desiccant removes water vapor directly from the air. The rotor is divided into two segments; process air and regeneration air. A sealing system prevents mixing of the air flows. The air to be dried passes through the desiccant wheel and the desiccant removes the water vapor from the air and holds it while rotating. As the moisture laden desiccant passes through the reactivation sector, the water vapor is transferred to a heated airstream, which is exhausted to the outside. The process is continuous, allowing for highly effective and uninterrupted dehumidification.
