Panic anxiety is induced in healthy volunteers by injection of CCK-4 and this method is commonly used as a clinical testing of new anti-panic / anxiolytic drugs.
The Neurofit model of panic anxiety is performed in the rat and has been validated using the Elevated Plus Maze test (EPM). In line with the clinical finding, benzodiazepines normalise the panic anxiety status of rats challenged with CCK-4.
This test is cost effective and has a short turn around time.
