Microglow technology

GMW90 is the first sensor to feature the new generation of CARBOCAP® sensors with microglow technology. Microglow is a Vaisala-patented silicon MEMS emitter infrared source. This unique low-power, silicon-based infrared source is built in-huse at Vaisala.

Using this technology, the performance of CARBOCAP® sensors has been even further improved. It represents next generation infrared technology that solves many of the challenges that impact traditional infrared sources. Low power consumption enables correct RH+T measurements in CO2 instruments. Replacing the incandescent light bulb sensor stability has significantly improved. Moreover, the sensors operational life has extended by 50%. Through simplified design and intelligent optical design, fewer components are required, thereby helping to increase the overall reliability of the sensor.

The GMW90 includes a sliding cover, which allows for faster calibration/service. Most importantly, the compliance and traceability of the measurements are never compromised.
