OrbusNeich wins approval for Sapphire catheter

Sapphire 1.25mm is a small-diameter balloon catheter designed specifically for the pre-dilatation of tight, calcified chronic total occlusion (CTO) lesions that require the best crossability. The product provides physicians with enhanced pushability and superior kink resistance. The Sapphire 1.25mm is said to be the only balloon available in a 5mm length. In addition, 8mm, 10mm and 15mm lengths are also offered.

Tan Huay, professor at the University Hospital in Singapore, said: “The Sapphire 1.25mm balloon is easily deliverable with good pushability, and may be considered a first choice in highly stenotic lesions.”
