news.Cyanotech, a provider of natural, functional nutrients derived from microalgae, has appointed Deanna Spooner as its new vice president of finance and administration, CFO, secretary and treasurer, effective November 14, 2008. Ms Spooner succeeds William Maris, who has accepted a CFO position with another company.

Ms Spooner has joined Cyanotech as controller in January 2008. Previously, Ms Spooner worked in Hawaii as a financial consultant to varied commercial enterprises; as CFO and COO of ADcom Information Services of Deerfield Beach, Florida and as CFO and vice president of administration of Hygeia Pharmaceuticals of San Diego, California.
Ms Spooner has also worked as manager of accounting and SEC reporting at Oak Industries of Rancho Bernardo, California; and with Deloitte, Haskins & Sells, audit department in San Diego, California, and Seattle, Wayne.
