Starion signs distribution agreement with Datascope

Starion Instruments has signed a non-exclusive distribution agreement with Datascope to integrate Starion's patented Tissue Welding technology into Datascope's procedural kits for endoscopic saphenous vein and radial artery harvesting.

The driving force behind this new agreement was Datascope’s customer demand for Starion’s Tissue Welding technology, which uses direct heat and pressure to simultaneously seal and divide soft tissue and vessels, reducing the risk of inadvertent collateral damage.

Datascope customers now have access to Starion’s STLS 23 and STLS 35 thermal ligating shears for unparalleled effectiveness, reliability and versatility during endoscopic cardiac procedures.

Kirt Kirtland, president and CEO of Starion, said: “Demand for our products is growing as surgeons and patients experience the clinical benefits of Tissue Welding technology over traditional seal and cut modalities. This new agreement reflects this increased demand and enables us to strengthen our leadership position in the cardiac marketplace.”
