Metabasis names new vice president and CFO

Metabasis Therapeutics, a biopharmaceutical company, has appointed Tran Nguyen as its new vice president and CFO.

Mr Nguyen joins the company’s senior management team and will be primarily responsible for managing the financial operations of the company.

Mr Nguyen was formerly a part of the Healthcare Investment Banking group of Citi Global Markets as a vice president. Before joining Citi Global Markets, Mr Nguyen was with Lehman Brothers holding positions of increasing responsibility, most recently as a vice president.

Mr Nguyen has received a BA degree from Claremont McKenna College in 1995 and an MBA degree from The Anderson School of Management at University of California, Los Angeles.

Mark Erion, president, CEO and chief scientific officer of Metabasis, said: “We are excited to add someone of Tran’s caliber and experience to Metabasis’s senior management team. We believe that he will have an immediate impact on the company as we continue to focus on the development of our two lead products, MB07811 for hyperlipidemia and MB07803 for type 2 diabetes.”
