news.OptiMedica, an ophthalmic device company, has announced its expansion into Japan with the formation of an exclusive distribution agreement with Topcon Medical Japan.

Under the terms of the agreement, Topcon Medical Japan will be the sole local distributor of OptiMedica’s Pascal (pattern scan laser) Photocoagulator system, a fully integrated pattern scan laser designed to treat a variety of retinal diseases including diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration and retinal vascular occlusive disease.
Hiroshi Fukuzawa, director, executive officer and general manager of the eye care business unit of Topcon Medical Japan, said: “We strongly believe that adding the Pascal Photocoagulator to our portfolio of outstanding products, which includes 3D OCT-1000 and Imagenet, will allow us to meet the needs of advanced medical care in the Japanese ophthalmic community.”
