MiMedx wins FDA clearance for Paradis Vaso Shield device

MiMedx Group has received the FDA's clearance to market the Paradis Vaso Shield device, indicated for use as a cover for vessels following anterior vertebral surgery.

The proprietary, patented, and biocompatible polyvinyl alcohol polymer (PVA) membrane may reduce the risk of associated injury following anterior vertebral surgeries by providing a vessel cover, the company said.

According to MiMedx, the Paradis Vaso Shield is a permanent and biocompatible implant which is suitable as a cover for vessels.

Parker Petit, chairman, president and CEO of MiMedx Group, said: “This is MiMedx Group’s first product to receive FDA clearance. In my opinion, the company has a complement of exciting new technologies, and a number of our products will proceed to the clearance and approval process in 2009. We will keep our shareholders fully informed on our progress.”
