Salient Surgical Technologies names new board member

Salient Surgical Technologies, a medical technology company that develops and markets advanced energy devices for use in surgical procedures, has appointed Bobby Griffin to its board of directors.

Mr Griffin is currently involved in venture capital activities at BG Holdings and is on the board of various discovery companies researching new applications or therapies in medicine and dentistry. He is an investor and advisor to companies that produce implantable drug delivery systems, chronic patient monitoring systems and treatments for medical conditions related to obesity, high blood pressure and heart failure.

Mr Griffin also currently serves on the board of directors for EnteroMedics and has previously served on the boards of several other public and insurance companies, including MTS Systems, Urologix, Lutheran Brotherhood and Mutual Funds Fraternal Insurance.

Jay Schmelter, chairman of the board of Salient, said: “We are very excited to have Bob join our board of directors. With his 35 years of product development experience, he will be a strong contributor to our product development strategy as we strive to establish our Transcollation technology as the standard of care in our current markets and explore new clinical applications.”
