Pacific Biometrics or PBI, a provider of specialty central laboratory services for clinical drug development, has appointed Amar Sethi as its new vice president of science and technology. Dr Sethi expects to start at PBI on or about July 15, 2009.

The vice president of science and technologychnology (VP of S&T) is a senior scientific and science-strategy position reporting directly to the company’s CEO. The VP of S&T will participate in developing strategic plans that will keep PBI at the forefront of specialty laboratory services for pharmaceutical and diagnostic product development.
Dr Sethi trained as a physician at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark (1996). In 2003 Dr Sethi was awarded a PhD in genetic epidemiology at the same institution, and in 2005 he became board certified in chemical pathology by the National Board of Health, Denmark.
During 2005-2008 Dr Sethi was a postdoctoral fellow at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, Pulmonary and Vascular Medicine Branch, National Institutes of Health (NIH) and in 2008 he commenced a clinical chemistry fellowship in the Department of Laboratory Medicine, NIH overseeing the immunology section while continuing his research.
