news.Bausch & Lomb has appointed John Sheets, Jr, as its new corporate vice president and chief technology officer, leading the company's global R&D efforts.

Before joining Bausch & Lomb, Dr Sheets served as global president and CEO of Hoya Surgical Optics. Previously, Dr Sheets was worldwide vice president of R&D, and chief technical officer at Ethicon.
Dr Sheets holds PhD and MS degrees in materials science and engineering, as well as a BS degree in Zoology with a post-baccalaureate in chemistry, all from the University of Florida.
Gerald Ostrov, chairman and CEO of Bausch & Lomb, said: “Dr Sheets brings with him enormous knowledge, insight and experience from the ophthalmic and broader healthcare markets.
